Designed by Avro, the Lancaster heavy bomber was a British Second World War contemporary of the Handley Page Halifax. Both bombers having were developed to the same specification and adopted by the Royal Air Force (RAF) during the same wartime era.
The Lancaster served with distinction in multiple roles, including the famous Dambuster raids, by many airforces and squadrons.
